1. Notes from the Coach

- a little ditty

Since Christmas is approaching fast, (like you haven't noticed!) I intended to write some useful words about how to enjoy yourselves, or steps to take to lessen the stress, or how to protect yourself against marauding relatives - you know the sort of thing. When I sat down to write, the following poem emerged and, since there are a number of newsletters already in circulation about how to take care of yourself etc, these holidays, I thought I'd send it to you and hopefully bring an ironic smile to your lips. Feel free to pass it on (with the copyright and footer attached) and enjoy!

December 1st, 1998

The presents are all neatly wrapped,
A perfect gift for Jill and Jack
The right size dress for Auntie Sue
A useful tool for Uncle Lou
The book that Cousin Mary craved
The sweetest bear for little Dave

Oh what a joy the shops have been
So bright and friendly and serene
And what a pleasure to have shared
With all my fellow shoppers there
A friendly smile, a kindly chat
A door held open, this and that

The cards are written, each with a letter
Hand-crafted of course, just couldn't be better
The parcels are packed, all strongly bound
So they arrive early all safe and sound
An ecologically acceptable tree
Adorns our front room, placed perfectly.

The Christmas decorations, tastefully hung
Cheerfully brighten our festive home
The turkey is ordered, the cake is iced
The pudding is soaking in sherry and spice
The freezer is full with all that we need
Just fresh food to buy on Christmas Eve

Oh what a wonderful time of year
Spent with family loved so dear
A super holiday, relaxing and fun
With laughs and frolics for everyone
Let's take a photograph, everyone beam
A perfect Christmas - IN MY DREAMS!

2. Depression Antidote No. 5

**GIVE YOURSELF A GIFT TODAY**

Staying with the festive mood, ask yourself "what would I really like today?" - a drink with friends, a massage, a new book, tickets for that concert, a walk, whatever. Give yourself the gift you desire. Don't undervalue your gift because you've given it to yourself. Understand that the more you can give to yourself the more you will have to give to others. The more you can show you value yourself the higher your self-esteem. Give generously!

Affirmation: The more I receive the more I have to give.

3. Alternative Approaches

L-Trytophan (5 htp)

Holland and Barrett magazine reports: "If your diet isn't as balanced as you'd hope for, there's a chance you could be missing out on L Trytophan - an important amino acid that plays a vital role in the production of brain chemicals.

If you are lacking, the safest way to get this supplement is in the form of 5-HTP - a natural compound that the body produces from L-Trytophan. 5-HTP is believed to help the body produce serotonin, a chemical that regulates mood, sleep and other brain-related functions.

5 HTP is just one of the mineral supplements explained in the diet and nutrition section of my ebook

5. Plea From the Coach!

Applying Depression Antidote No. 4, (Break 3 rules today) I'm breaking my rule which says "Coaches who write newsletters should be confident, together, eager, strong, ahead of the game, internally motivated etc. etc." I'm beginning to feel lonely in this part of cyberspace and would love to have some feedback on how I'm doing. Are you enjoying Depression Antidotes? Are you finding them enlightening, encouraging, empowering, fun? Please let me know. I value your input!

6. Future Editions - Request

In future editions of Depression Antidotes I would like to include reader's experiences, tips and recommended resources. If you have anything you’d like to contribute, please contact me using the link below. Or, failing that just let me know how I'm doing.

. . . . . . . . . .

Have a wonder-filled week

Nancy

Empowering you to live an EXTRAORDINARY life!
